A truly sweet message that I like to imagine was written by a grandmother “fairy” to her granddaughter. Our memory takes us back to the time of the lire – different times! – when it was common to read short handwritten phrases on banknotes just as now on this banknote.

The young man who received this 5 euro is named Alberto and right after reading the dedication he decided to post the photo on Facebook to start searching for the child to return the gift from the sweet fairy. I love banknotes that tell stories, but this time I felt uneasy… I imagine a grandmother giving this money to her granddaughter, or one of the parents obviously, but the handwriting reminds me of a grandmother. And I imagine the parents who, due to distraction or need, spend it.
